Cyprus offers a European higher-education setting in the Eastern Mediterranean, with public universities, private universities and tertiary institutions offering academic and professional programmes. The system follows the European Higher Education Area and Bologna structure, including ECTS credits across bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral study. International students can find programmes taught in English as well as Greek, but the teaching language, entry standard and available intake must be checked for the exact programme. Through Univs.com, students can compare institutions and programmes, review fees and requirements, and make a more informed choice before applying.
CYQAA publishes the accreditation status of higher-education institutions and programmes in the Republic of Cyprus. KYSATS is the Republic’s authority for academic recognition of higher-education qualifications. Recognition outside Cyprus is decided by the receiving university, ENIC/NARIC centre, employer or professional regulator. Regulated careers such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, law, architecture and teaching may require additional approval, examinations or supervised practice.
