Czechia, also known as the Czech Republic, is an EU and Schengen country in Central Europe. Prague is the capital, Czech is the official language and the Czech koruna (CZK) is the national currency. Its university tradition stretches back to the founding of Charles University in 1348, the oldest university in Central Europe.
The National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education is the independent Czech quality-assurance body responsible for institutional and programme accreditation, external evaluation and inspection under the Higher Education Act. Czechia participates in the European Higher Education Area and uses ECTS.

EU, EEA and Swiss citizens have unrestricted labour-market access. Eligible third-country students enrolled full-time in an accredited Czech degree programme can generally work without a separate employment permit; the employer has notification duties and study must remain the primary purpose of residence.
