Cybersecurity is applied, but practical work must be controlled and authorised. Look for isolated laboratories, defensive exercises, secure coding, forensic analysis, incident simulations and written reporting. A legitimate programme should make ethics and permission explicit.

Ask whether students work on realistic scenarios, how laboratory access is managed, which operating systems and tools are used, and whether the final project can become a professional portfolio item without exposing sensitive information.
