Agency vs Direct Application to Georgian Universities

Should you use an education agency or apply to a Georgian university yourself? What each route costs and when an agency helps.

Agency vs direct application: No Univs fee, on either route

You can apply to a Georgian university yourself on Univs.com or through an education agency; both routes reach the same university, which makes the admission decision. Univs charges students no agency, consultancy or service fee on either route, but an agency may charge its own fee, so ask for it in writing before you sign.

When an agency helps

  • You want someone to prepare and check documents with you in your own language.
  • You need help with visa, travel or arrival as well as admission.

When applying yourself is enough

  • You can complete an online form and upload scans of your documents.
  • The programme shows Apply Now on Univs.com, so the process, fees and next steps are shown in your account.

Questions to ask any agency

  • What do you charge the student, and when is it refundable?
  • Are you a verified Univs partner agency, or do you work with the university directly?
  • Who pays the university fees, and will I receive the university’s own invoice?

What an agency can and cannot do

A good education agency can help you choose programmes, check that your documents are complete and translated, prepare you for interviews and support you with the visa and arrival. It cannot change the university’s entry requirements, make the admission decision or reduce the university’s fees on its own. Be careful with anyone who promises guaranteed admission, asks you to pay university fees into a personal account, or will not put their own charges in writing.

Applying yourself, step by step

If you are comfortable with an online form, applying yourself is straightforward. Choose a programme that shows Apply Now, complete the form, upload your documents and follow each stage in My Univs. The admissions team contacts you inside the application if anything is missing, and every university fee is shown in your account before you pay. Many students start on their own and only look for extra help at the visa stage.

Using an agency safely

  • Ask for the agency’s fee, what it covers and the refund terms in writing before you share documents.
  • Make sure university invoices come from the university or from your Univs account, not from an individual.
  • Ask the agency to show you the application stage regularly, so you know where it stands.

What happens after you press Apply Now

  1. Application received. The admissions team checks your form against the programme requirements.
  2. Documents requested. If anything is missing or unclear, the checklist in your account shows exactly which file and why.
  3. Interview or test. Some programmes, for example medicine and dentistry, include an online interview or entrance test.
  4. Offer letter. The university accepts you. Any university application or registration fee is shown at this point if it applies.
  5. Recognition and enrolment. The Georgian authorities recognise your previous education, and the university issues the enrolment letter you use for your visa.

You follow every stage in My Univs, and you get an email whenever something changes. Guide: How to track your university application.

Checklist before you apply

  • Open the programme page and confirm the tuition, duration, teaching language and the next intake shown there today.
  • Read the Requirements section: minimum grades, age limits, language evidence and any nationalities or countries of residence that cannot apply.
  • Prepare clear scans of your passport, school-leaving certificate or previous degree with transcripts, and a recent photo.
  • Ask the university, through your application, whether its application fee is refundable or deducted from tuition.
  • Plan for recognition of your previous education by the Georgian authorities, which is a legal step for international students and takes time.
  • Keep every invoice and receipt, and pay only through the invoice in your account or the university’s own official channel.

A simple way to decide

If you can fill in an online form, scan your documents and reply to messages in English, start by applying yourself on Univs.com. Bring in an agency later if you need help with the visa, travel or arrival, and agree its fee in writing first. If you already trust an agency, ask it to submit through its Univs partner account so you can both see the same stages.

What you pay, and to whom

Univs charges students no agency, consultancy or service fee, because Univs is paid by the universities, not by students. Any application or registration fee set by the university is shown before you pay. Tuition is paid to the university. If you pay an invoice by card, any card processing fee is also shown before checkout. Living costs, insurance, visa and travel are separate and are not included in the tables above.

Common questions

Do I need an agent to apply to a university in Georgia?

No. You can apply yourself on Univs.com: choose a programme with Apply Now, complete one online form and upload your documents. If you already work with an education agency, it can submit and track the application for you through its Univs partner account instead, and keep you updated on each stage.

Is it cheaper to apply without an agency?

It can be. Univs charges students no agency, consultancy or service fee on either route, while some agencies charge students their own fee for their help. University tuition and application fees are set by the university either way, so the difference is whatever the agency charges you, which you should get in writing.

My agency applied for me. How do I track it?

Your agency tracks the application in its Univs partner dashboard, where it sees the same stages, document requests and messages as the admissions team. Ask your agency for the latest stage and for copies of any offer letter or invoice, and make sure university fees are paid through official channels.
