My daughter graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) on 16 June 2026 after completing her medical studies there, and our experience has been excellent throughout her entire journey.

For over five years, she received quality education, professional guidance, and strong academic support from the university. The faculty members were knowledgeable, approachable, and dedicated to helping students succeed.

Importantly, neither my daughter nor our family ever experienced or observed any racism, discrimination, or unfair treatment. She always felt safe, respected, and welcomed in both the university and the city of Tbilisi.

Contrary to some negative claims seen online, my daughter experienced no situation where university authorities intentionally failed students. Academic evaluations were fair and based on student performance and preparation.

TSMU provided a great environment for learning, personal growth, and cultural exposure. We are proud that our daughter earned her medical degree from this prestigious institution and are grateful for the support she received throughout her studies.

I highly recommend TSMU to students seeking a quality medical education in a welcoming international environment.

Very Disappointing Experience at TSMU

My experience at Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) has been extremely disappointing. I want to share this honestly so that other international students, especially from India, can make an informed decision.

There is a noticeable issue of racism and discrimination, both inside and outside the university. Many Indian students have faced biased behavior and unfair treatment from some professors. A few professors display clear partiality and can be quite arrogant, making it difficult for students to learn comfortably.

Another serious problem is the lack of proper English communication among some professors, which makes understanding lectures and exams very challenging for international students. Despite being promoted as an English-medium program, several subjects are not taught effectively in English.

Unfortunately, the general attitude of some locals toward Indians and people of color is also unwelcoming, and students often experience racial prejudice in public and within the university environment.

Overall, I would not recommend TSMU for students looking for a respectful, fair, and professional academic environment.

Average uni, no cadavers, some of the professors are really weak in English, some of the professors sometimes have no idea what they're doing, if you want to study here you should be well aware with the idea that you have to self study most of it because they don't teach you well enough here, but thats common in every uni to be honest. Internals carry 60% marks for the overall in each subject so if you're aiming for a high GPA, you have to study everything everyday for the weekly tests in all subjects. Weak student government, bad communication issues between professors and groups, and between groups too. Really bad guidance for Anatomy. I would say that the university is worth it for what the students have to pay per year but if you have a higher budget, consider European countries for med. Double the cost in some countries for every year but it's really worth it, (speaking from experience). The people are not racist usually and the country is beautiful, for Muslims they have halal messes here which is really a huge advantage. And if you've decided here, dont move to a hostel, get an apartment. It's convenient to have your own space and to study without distractions. The buildings of the uni look like those old indian government buildings😭. But honestly, i like the uni.

This year, for the first time, Tbilisi University is teaching anatomy in four parts.
Any student who fails one module is barred from the next.
This means that around 30 students failed the first module, each with different circumstances.
All of them were prevented from studying the second module.
The strangest and most important thing is that next semester, students will only study anatomy. This means they will only study one module and two modules, and the remaining courses of the second semester, or more accurately, the entire second semester, will be postponed to the next academic year.

As for the situation of the approximately 30 students who were caught in a bureaucratic nightmare, shuttling between the dean's office and the professors' offices:
