🛂 Visa & Immigration
Student Visa Process

For a complete course in Argentina's officially recognised education system, the Argentine Foreign Ministry's student-visa route can authorise a stay of up to two years and must be handled personally through the Argentine consular office responsible for the applicant's place of residence. The institution must complete the required electronic pre-registration with Migraciones and be registered in RENURE. Applicants already in Argentina through regular entry may instead be directed to the RaDEX temporary student-residence process. The domestic temporary student residence is normally granted for one year and is renewable. The correct route depends on nationality, length and type of study, and whether the applicant is applying before or after lawful entry. This guidance was checked on 22 August 2026; the responsible consulate and Migraciones remain controlling.

Valid passport with at least six months' validity at entry and the required blank pages, or an accepted MERCOSUR travel document where applicable.

Two current 4x4 cm colour photographs on a white background for the consular route.

Completed and signed FSV visa application form for the consular route.

Copy of the study program and admission or enrolment evidence.

Electronic pre-registration or enrolment record submitted by the recognised institution to Migraciones.

Institution's current RENURE registration details where required.

Evidence of sufficient funds for study and living costs.

Proof of address in the consular jurisdiction or in Argentina, depending on the route.

Foreign criminal-record certificate for applicants aged 16 or over who lived more than one year in another country during the previous three years; apostille or legalisation requirements apply.

Argentine criminal-record certificate for domestic residence applicants aged 16 or over; the official student-residence page says this is integrated into RaDEX.

Legalised or apostilled birth certificate and parental authorisation or guardianship documents for minors, as applicable.

Spanish translations by an authorised translator for documents issued in other languages, where required.

Health-insurance evidence valid for Argentina and any additional documents requested by the consulate, Migraciones or the institution.

No fixed national processing time is promised; appointment availability, document checks and supplementary requests vary. Confirm directly and apply early (checked 2026-08-22).

Full-course consular route: USD/EUR 250 consular fee plus USD 300 MERCOSUR or USD 600 extra-MERCOSUR migration fee; Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay students are exempt under the cited rule (checked 2026-08-22).
