Georgia University Admission Interview Guide

A university admission interview is usually a structured check of the applicant, the intended programme and the information already supplied. It may also assess communication in the programme’s teaching language. It should be prepared for seriously, but it is not a test of memorised marketing copy.

Every currently enabled Georgian institute journey on Univs includes an interview, English assessment or recorded-interview stage. The format and timing are not identical, so follow the invitation for your university rather than assuming that one checklist applies everywhere.

Start with the interview invitation

Read the invitation from beginning to end. Confirm the date, time zone, platform, expected duration, language, whether the session is live or recorded, and which identity or academic documents must be available. If any detail is missing, ask through the verified application channel before the appointment.

Do not forward the meeting link publicly. A genuine interview invitation should relate to an application you recognise. If the sender, link or requested payment looks inconsistent with your portal, pause and verify it.

Understand where the interview sits in the process

Interview timing varies. Several current university journeys place it after Application Submitted, while others include an English test or interview before an offer stage. Georgian Technical University and Tbilisi State Medical University use document and English checks before their later submission stage. The University of Georgia, correctly abbreviated UG, uses a recorded admission interview in its current public journey.

The interview is therefore one milestone in a longer process. Being invited is not an offer, and completing it does not by itself confirm admission, document recognition, fee clearance or enrolment. Use the application status guide to keep those stages separate.

Prepare an honest account of your study choice

You should be able to explain, in your own words, why you chose the field, what you understand about the programme and how it relates to your previous study or plans. Review the actual programme page, including level, duration, language and curriculum information currently published.

A useful preparation sheet has five short headings:

• your educational background;
• why this subject fits your interests or experience;
• what you understand about the chosen programme;
• how you plan to study and communicate in the teaching language;
• any gap, change of field or document detail that may need a clear explanation.

Write prompts, not a script. A rehearsed paragraph that does not answer the question can sound less convincing than a short, direct explanation. Never invent work experience, grades or personal circumstances.

Review the application you actually submitted

Before the interview, compare the application form with the passport, certificates and transcripts you supplied. Know the exact programme title and institution. If you notice a genuine error, do not hide it; prepare to explain it and ask how to correct the record.

Keep the requested documents nearby, but do not display more personal data on camera than the interviewer asks to see. Send any replacement file only through the approved route. An interviewer should not need your account password, card PIN or one-time banking code.

Check your technical setup

1. Test the camera, microphone, speakers and internet connection on the platform named in the invitation.
2. Use a quiet, well-lit place where your face can be seen clearly.
3. Charge the device and keep the power cable connected where possible.
4. Set the display name to match the application.
5. Close notifications and applications that could reveal private information.
6. Join a few minutes early and keep a verified contact route available if the connection fails.

If the interview is recorded, check the submission instructions, file format and deadline. Do not add a university logo or edit the recording in a way that could misrepresent who produced it.

During the interview

Listen to the whole question, then answer the question asked. It is reasonable to ask for clarification if you did not understand. Keep answers specific and consistent with the application. If you do not know a detail, say so rather than guessing.

For a language check, focus on clear communication. The exact standard belongs to the university and programme, so this guide does not claim a universal score or level. If an accommodation is needed, request it in advance through the appropriate admissions route.

Avoid reading from another screen or receiving hidden answers. Apart from undermining the assessment, that can create a record inconsistent with your later study. The goal is to present your own background and readiness accurately.

Questions worth asking the university

An interview can also clarify the process. When the format allows questions, useful topics include the next decision stage, how a missing document will be requested, where an offer or result will appear, and whether any further assessment is expected. Ask about current fees only through a route that can confirm the amount, currency, recipient and refund terms.

Do not press the interviewer for a visa guarantee or a promised admission date. University admission and government decisions are separate, and a reviewer may not be able to give an immediate result.

What happens afterwards

Record the date and keep any attendance confirmation. The next public stage can be Interview Completed, an offer, a fee step or another document request, depending on the university. Wait for the result in the verified portal or registered email channel.

If the university asks for a correction, respond to that request rather than starting a duplicate application. If no update arrives within a stated window, follow up once with the application reference and interview date. Do not include passport scans in an unencrypted public message.

Final interview checklist

• The institution and programme match your application.
• The date, time zone, platform and format are confirmed.
• Your device, connection, camera and microphone are tested.
• You can explain your background and study choice truthfully.
• The documents requested in the invitation are available.
• You know where the result or next action should appear.
