🛂 Visa & Immigration
Student Visa Process

Full-time international students usually need the appropriate visitor or resident visa for study. BOCA's resident-visa route requires an admission permit and supporting identity, academic, financial and health documents. Students entering on a resident visa must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) within the official deadline. Entry route, eligibility and document authentication vary by nationality and circumstances, so applicants must use their responsible Taiwan overseas mission and the NIA instructions current on the application date. BOCA lists eight working days for a resident-visa application made inside Taiwan, but overseas missions may use different service standards and may request interviews or additional documents. The NIA lists five working days for a complete ARC application, with cases requiring supplementation taking longer. As checked 22 August 2026, BOCA lists resident-visa fees of NT$2,200 for a single entry or NT$4,400 for multiple entry in Taiwan, and US$66 or US$132 overseas. Reciprocal, nationality-specific, rush and special-handling charges can differ; ARC fees are separate.
