🏆 Program Structure & Plan

The Medicine (MD) Program at Grigol Robakidze University is a 6 year integrated medical education program comprising 360 ECTS credits. The curriculum is designed according to Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) principles and aligned with international medical education standards, including the Bologna Process, WFME standards, and the European Qualifications Framework. The study plan progressively develops students’ theoretical knowledge, practical clinical competencies, communication skills, research abilities, and professional ethics through integrated modules, simulation-based training, and hospital based clinical rotations. Years 1–2: Foundations of Medicine & Integrated Basic Sciences The first phase of the program focuses on foundational biomedical sciences and the development of essential academic and communication skills. Core Subjects Include: * Cell Biology * Medical Genetics * Medical Physics & Biophysics * Histology, Cytology & Embryology * Biochemistry * Professional Latin * Health Promotion * Scientific Research * Medical Psychology * Bioethics * Communication Skills * Patient Care * Preventive Medicine * Foreign Languages Students also study integrated system-based modules such as: * Neuroscience I & II * Musculoskeletal System * Cardiovascular, Respiratory & Immune Systems * Digestive, Urinary, Reproductive & Endocrine Systems Year 3: Pre-Clinical & Transitional Medical Sciences This stage bridges basic sciences with clinical medicine and develops diagnostic reasoning and practical medical skills. Years 4–5: Clinical Rotation Cycles During the clinical phase, students undergo supervised hospital-based training and clinical rotations across major medical specialties. Clinical Integration Training Includes: * Internal Medicine * Hospital Surgery * Obstetrics & Gynecology * Emergency Medicine Students gain intensive clinical exposure in real healthcare environments while refining independent patient management, decision making, and evidence based medical practice. Elective Courses Students are also required to complete elective components during the program.
