Every international application to a Georgian university begins with an online form, but the path after submission is not identical. The eight universities currently published on Univs use institute-specific status journeys. Some move from review to department submission and interview; others require the application fee before a formal submission stage.

The most useful way to read the process is as a set of verified milestones. “Pending” means the file is waiting for its first review. “Admission Process Started” or “Application Process Started” means that review has moved forward. “Application Submitted” means the relevant department has received the file—but not every university displays that as a separate public step.

What Pending means

Pending is the first internal review state after an application is received. The current student communication describes an estimated 1–2 working days. During this stage the team checks whether the application and uploaded documents are complete enough to proceed. Pending is not an admission decision and does not mean the file has already been submitted to the university department.

Admission Process Started versus Application Process Started

Most universities use “Admission Process Started” after the initial review. It normally means the file has passed that first check and is being verified for the next action; the current communication estimates 1–3 working days.

Georgian Technical University and Tbilisi State Medical University currently use “Application Process Started” differently: the document review is complete and the required application fee must be confirmed before processing resumes. Their public journeys therefore place payment and document preparation before formal application submission.

What Application Submitted means

Application Submitted confirms that the file has been forwarded to the relevant reviewing department and is under consideration. The current status message gives an indicative 2–5 working days for that review. It is not an offer letter, final admission, education-document approval, visa approval or enrolment.

Grigol Robakidze University and the University of Georgia do not currently show Application Submitted as a separate milestone in their public paths. Their applicants should follow the interview, offer or other next status displayed in the portal rather than assume a missing label means the application has stopped.

Why the total duration varies

Adding the early estimates does not produce a guaranteed admission date. The complete process may include an interview, English assessment, payment confirmation, translation or notarisation, a placement letter, a university decision and external education-document procedures. Missing or unclear documents, weekends, public holidays and department schedules can all extend the timeline.

How to use these guides safely

  • Choose the exact university and programme before uploading documents.
  • Use the applicant portal as the source for your current status and next action.
  • Do not resubmit documents unless requested.
  • Confirm fees, currency, payment destination and refund terms before paying.
  • Never publish or send personal documents to an unverified recipient.
  • Treat an offer, document approval, visa decision and enrolment as separate milestones.
