🛂 Visa & Immigration
Student Visa Process

A science or education visa is the purpose-specific entry route for foreign nationals who come to enrol in a registered Azerbaijani educational institution, based on an application or invitation from the relevant state body, research body or registered institution. The Migration Code allows up to 90 days of stay on this visa. Visa-free rules or an ASAN e-visa may apply to some nationalities, but a short-stay e-visa does not replace the temporary residence permit needed for a continuing full-time course. After arrival, full-time study in a higher-education institution is an express ground for temporary residence. Applicants should register their place of stay when required and apply for temporary residence at least 30 days before their current lawful stay ends. The correct entry route depends on nationality and consular instructions; this guidance was checked on 22 August 2026.

Completed visa or residence application form for the route being used.

Valid passport and required copies; for temporary residence, validity must extend more than three months beyond the proposed permit expiry.

Two current colour photographs meeting the stated 3 x 4 cm or 3.5 x 4.5 cm requirement for the relevant process.

Official admission or enrolment evidence and the registered institution's invitation or other document proving the full-time study ground.

Evidence of sufficient funds for education and residence when costs are not financed by the applicant's home state or another sponsor.

Medical-insurance certificate where the inviting party does not undertake medical services.

Medical reference confirming the applicant does not carry a listed dangerous infectious disease for temporary residence.

Copy of the document authorising the applicant's current lawful stay or residence in Azerbaijan.

Proof of the residential address where the applicant will be registered, such as a compliant lease or other accepted housing document.

Housing provider's application and identity-document copy when the residence is not owned by the applicant.

Visa or residence state-fee payment evidence at the stage required by the authority.

Birth certificate, parental consent and legal-representative identity documents for an unaccompanied minor where applicable.

Any notarised translation, certification, original document or additional evidence requested by the consulate, Migration Service or university.

Visa applications: generally within 15 days. Eligible e-visas: 3 working days; urgent route: up to 3 hours. Student-residence service: 15 or 20 working days (checked 2026-08-22).

MFA schedule: single-entry visa USD 20; multiple-entry USD 350. Student residence up to one year: AZN 60 (15 working days) or AZN 40 (20 working days). Recheck before payment.
