Figures come from the Univs catalogue and were checked on 20 October 2026. Tuition and fees are set by each university and can change; the programme page always shows the current figure. *Whole-programme tuition is the yearly fee multiplied by the published duration, at the current rate.
Tbilisi State Medical University also runs an American MD programme at USD 13,500 a year. It follows a different curriculum, so compare it separately from the standard six-year MD.
Why the cheapest tuition is not always the cheapest degree
- Application fee: university application fees for medicine range from USD 170 (University of Georgia) to USD 1,000 (Tbilisi State Medical University). Each is shown before you pay.
- Nationality rules: several universities do not accept some nationalities for medicine. Check the restriction column, and the Requirements section on the programme page.
- Recognition at home: check that your licensing authority recognises the programme before comparing price. See Georgia medical degree recognition.
- Six years of living costs: all these universities are in Tbilisi, so housing and daily costs are similar; the tuition gap is the main difference.
How we compared
Every figure comes from the programme records that universities publish on Univs.com, the same data that powers the programme pages. We included programmes with a published yearly tuition, sorted them from lowest to highest, and multiplied the yearly fee by the published duration to show tuition for the whole programme at the current rate. Application fees are the lowest amount each university lists; where a university lists more than one application fee, the programme page shows which one applies to you. We did not add living costs, insurance, visa or travel, because those depend on how and where you live. We also did not rank universities on quality: price is only one input, and the right programme is the one you are eligible for, that is recognised where you plan to work, and that you can afford for every year of study.
Medicine in Georgia: what the six years look like
Every programme in the table is a six-year, 360-ECTS integrated Medical Doctor (MD) degree taught in English. Graduates are often described as MBBS graduates in South Asia, but the Georgian degree title is Medical Doctor. The early years cover biomedical sciences; the later years move into clinical subjects and hospital rotations. Before you compare price, check two things for each programme: that it is accredited in Georgia by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, and that the university is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools if your home licensing authority requires it.
Budgeting beyond tuition
Tuition is paid to the university, usually per year or per semester. On top of it, plan for the university application fee (once per application), residence permit and insurance, housing and food in Tbilisi for six years, and travel home. Exchange rates matter too: all medicine fees here are in US dollars, so families paying in another currency should add a margin. Keep the six-year total and the amount due in the first twelve months as two separate figures when you compare.

What you pay, and to whom
Univs charges students no agency, consultancy or service fee, because Univs is paid by the universities, not by students. If you pay an invoice by card, any card processing fee is also shown before checkout. Living costs, insurance, visa and travel are separate and are not included in the tables above.
